A door is any item within a room that links to another location in Whirled or an external site. Any furniture item in a room can become a door.

You can also create a new room by creating a door.

Creating a New Room

1. Go to a room you already own.
2. You will need a piece of furniture to turn into a door. If you do not already have furniture in the current room that you wish to use as a door to the new room, follow these steps:
   1. Choose Me → Furniture.
   2. Check the Add to room box next to any item you want to add to the room.
3. Click the Arrange Room button . If you added a piece of furniture to the room to use as a door, you will already be in Arrange Room mode.
4. Choose the furniture that you wish to turn into a door by clicking it in the room.
5. In the Arrange Room panel, there is a door icon labeled "Make Door." Click on it.
6. A popup window will appear with two choices. Click on "Purchase a new room (free for now)."
   
7. Your new room will be created and you will be exited from Arrange Room mode. The room will be called "<yourname>'s new room" and you can get to it by clicking on the door you just created or the "My Rooms" list in the Me tab.

Note: If you change the name of the room, the name that shows up when your pointer is over the door you created it with will not change. You will need to edit the door while arranging the room and use the "Object action" section see in the "Advanced editing options." Even if you remove the door function from the furniture piece that leads to your new room, the new room will still exist.

Making a door into an existing Room

1. Follow the instructions above for creating a door until you read the step where the popup appears to "Purchase a new room (free for now)" or "Set room as target"
2. When you reach that step you need to move into the Room you wish to link to. You can do this buy using the back button in your browser or in the to left side of Whirled or going to a favorite. The door popup window will follow you.
3. When you reach the room you want to link to, click the "Set this location as target". This will create the door into that room, and then return you to your original starting location.

Linking to discussions or external sites

To make a link to a location other than a room, for example, a place in the discussions or an external site on the internet, the instructions are very similar for making a door, except that you need to use the Make Link button in Arrange Room mode.

1. Go to a room you already own.
2. Click the Arrange Room button. If you added a piece of furniture to the room to use as a door, you will already be in Arrange Room mode.
3. Choose the furniture that you wish to make into a link.
4. In the Arrange Room panel, there is a door icon labeled "Make Link." Click on it.

*Some furniture glows when your mouse is over it, showing that you can click on it to go somewhere or see something. A green glow means the furniture will take you to another room. An orange glow means the furniture will open a new browser tab with a link such as the wiki or an outside website. And an white glow will redirect you to a game.
