Design Backdrops
Room backgrounds and dimensions are packaged up into
backdrop items. Whirled backdrops display at
500 pixels tall, and can be any width. Images of any other height will be resized, along with everything and everyone in the room, to fit 500 pixels. That means taller backdrops will display the room contents including avatars as small and shorter backdrops will display them as large. Learn more

Furniture is any kind of object you can put in your room to decorate it. From chairs and tables to fireflies and planets, furniture comes in a limitless variety, from static images to the furniture that shows photos, movies, and are interactive. Learn more

Decorate Rooms
Once you've uploaded some of your own furniture and a backdrop or two, you can incorporate them into a personalized
room. Basic rooms are made up of a full-scene background file called a "
backdrop" and any number of movable items called "
furniture". You can go even further by adding background
music or buying a
pet to roam around in your room.

Software for Artists
Artists use all sorts of things to create their artwork including different computer programs. There are two kinds of computer graphics: raster (composed of pixels) and vector (composed of shapes & paths). Generally art programs are either raster or vector, but there are some that incorporate features from both types. Sell Your Creations!
Any items that you make can be listed in the
shop. Just upload your item to your inventory and use the
List item button to add it to the shop. You can control the
pricing strategy to limit how many are sold or to tie the price to the popularity of an item. You'll earn 30% of the
